Who are we?
Little Ginger Studio was created 8 years ago with a small but keen group of little artists. Our art classes and school holiday activities focus on creativity first and foremost - individual expression is prized and I am always amazed how kids can come up with such wildly imaginative and innovative work. Our classes provide a fun antidote to the emphasis on academic pursuits that kids face at school.
I attended Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne and completed a BFA in Printmaking and soon found myself drawn to teaching. As a qualified Primary Educator with nearly 20 years experience teaching Kindergarten to year 6, Visual Art classes and English as an Additional Language / Dialect - I can't overstate the importance of creativity as Children's natural language. As a professional teacher I understand the needs of students and have the behaviour management skills to safely manage groups of children. I aim to provide a safe, calm and nurturing environment so kids can enjoy artmaking as a therapeutic activity.
Kids are natural artists. They learn to draw before they can write and they have few inhibitions when creating. I love nothing more than introducing children to a new material - or better still a multitude of exciting, colourful & messy materials - to explore and create whatever they can imagine. Stimulating kids' creativity gives me immense pleasure.
Now that my little one has arrived (you guessed it, she's the "Little Ginger"), I've been able to devote more time to developing the business and work with some wonderfully talented people. We now have 5 after school programs running at two schools (Randwick PS and Maroubra Junction PS) and a growing school holiday activity program - and we can't wait to start pre-school art classes next year. Bring on the mess!
